The Avatars debated what to do from the safety of their haven. In the end they decided to return to the Keep -- the kobolds had even managed to slay the Destroyer summoned by Morpheus (not, of course, before he cut down many of them) -- by surrounding him and pulling him to the ground. Rhys' untimely death made the decision easier. They returned to the Keep area with his body in tow, and buried him at the foot of the Flat Rock. They entered the Keep at dusk, not long before the gates closed; Phylus returned to their apartment, while Morpheus and Loralask returned to the Tavern.
One man stood out from the rest of the Tavern's patrons -- a garishly-dressed dandy arrayed for what can only be described as "swashbuckling." He sat at a table in a dark corner of the Tavern's common room -- along with a companion whose back was turned to the Avatars. As Morpheus and Loralask approached the young bravo, they recognized his companion as Gwydion, one of the mercenary fighters they had hired to explore the Caves while Phylus was ill. Morpheus was not pleased.
